In this chapter we are not going to realize a meticulous description of all the feasts of the Valley of the Tiétar; only we try to refer to those that have more attractive significant aspects for the visitor.ç

To the habitual holidays of all the villages of beginning of year it is necessary to add some that are celebrated in January; the first one is, for the cattle character of many peoples, in honor of San Antón under whose sponsorship the domestic animals place. It was usual, and still it takes place in many populations, to lead to the animals beautiful harnessed at the edge of the hermitage or the church in order that the benediction was reaching them. After giving the return to the hermitage one was giving free rein to the steeds and in the air of our peoples it was resounding during the day, so much in sacred as profane spaces the prises of the saint: " Divine glorious Antonio / beg the immense God..."

But the most important of this month is relation with the principal winter holiday of several villages that are under the sponsorship of San Sebastián (January 20). The showiest thing they are the offertories that take place in Villarejo, Poyales, Ramacastañas, Hontanares.

Agricultural and cattle products, often the above

mentioned in the shape of sausages, are delivered by real faith in order that, after being auctioned, they help to contribute to the maintenance of the worship. Not less importantly it is the allotment of the bun and the burning of the oak that still there preserve the neighbors of Ramacastañas and Hontanares, gestures in which still there is perceived this solidarity of the small communities and that ritualed of the fire as a generator of the life died in the winter period. In some people, since in Pedro Bernardo, there was traditional the presence of a dancers' company in the religious acts.
